Karen Bird has over 30 years of experience in criminal law.
She attended UCLA and Loyola Law School where she was a member of the Scott Moot Court (state champion) and Traynor Trial Advocacy (state champion representing California in the national competition) teams. She worked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office as a certified law student.
Immediately after passing the bar exam in 1985, Karen began working at the Office of the Los Angeles County Public Defender. She spent three years doing misdemeanor and felony trials and acting in a supervisory capacity. She then worked at Parkinson Wolf Lazar and Leo, an insurance defense litigation firm, from 1988 to 1990. During her time there, Karen supervised firm partners in developing their trial skills in criminal trials under appointment of the Superior Court.
